Whiskey Hollow Bound is a CD featuring music from Vancouver’s most essential Bluegrass and Old-time musicians.

Bluegrass and Old-Time are two distinct genres that have witnessed a resurgence in popularity in the past few years. Originally from the Appalachian Mountain regions, the music was a blending of Celtic fiddle tunes, African instruments (the banjo) and New World sensibilities. Flourishing and evolving across North America it crystallized in the 1940’s, through performers like Bill Monroe and Earl Scruggs into Bluegrass music. Its roots were always preserved through Old-Time musicians like Roscoe Holcomb and the Lost City Ramblers. Now both Old-Time and Bluegrass co-exist as globally recognized genres. This CD reflects the contemporary scene of Bluegrass and Old-Time music that has been growing in Vancouver’s vibrant acoustic music scene over the past few years. It is a tribute to the long tradition of these genres and a view to their continuing evolution.

The CD features original material from local bands The Mountain Bluebirds, The Breakmen, Redgrass, Viper Central, Plough, and Dyad.
